Our Clubhouse and Pause Breathe Reflect friend, Michael O'Brien, has quite a story to tell.
It includes a near death accident, two decades of recovery, a new knee, a lifelong passion for cycling, deep immersion into his mindfulness practice, and the development of his mindfulness instruction, sangha, and sharing of insights.
He and his wife, Lynn, and their two dogs are heading out to Astoria to fulfill a couple of dreams. At last, she will travel the country in an RV. He will traverse the country on this bicycle, sharing wisdom and hope along the way. Also, raising funds for many nonprofits and organizations, highlighting their goodness
Tonight Seeing Goodness hosted a little send-off celebration for them.
This song was played.
For good measure, we listed a little Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Pink Floyd to balance out the selections :-)
The Bicycle Song
David Rovics
Everybody's wondering what they're gonna do
Everything's a mess and folks are feeling blue
If your troubles get you down so much you can't abide
Get on that bicycle and ride
Yeah, get on that bicycle and ride
'Neath the sunny skies or along the oceanside
Just ride, ride, ride, ride, ride
They're doing it in Eugene, Havana and Shanghai
Even folks in Boston-town are giving it a try
Throwing out their gas tanks, the clean air by their side
Get on that bicycle and ride
Yeah, get on that bicycle and ride
'Neath the sunny skies or along the oceanside
Just ride, ride, ride, ride, ride
It's good for your heart and it's good for your brain
When those fluorescent lights are driving you insane
Your toes'll tingle in your shoes, when to the pedal they're applied
Just get on that bicycle and ride
Yeah, get on that bicycle and ride
'Neath the sunny skies or along the oceanside
Just ride, ride, ride, ride, ride
If you're having troubles with your lovers, the tandem's made for that
You'll work together wonderfully or else you'll just go splat
Gonna shut down Main Street, make the bike paths far and wide
And get on that bicycle and ride
Yeah, get on that bicycle and ride
'Neath the sunny skies or along the oceanside
Just ride, ride, ride, ride, ride
And even On a Bicycle Built for Two, Nat King Cole
which sounds particularly fascinating why mashed up with
some heavy metal simultaneously playing in a different tab. :-)
